Plastic Chemicals
Introduction: Makes the Rigid PVC work better is a versatile plastic having an excellent combination of strength, chemical inertness, and fire resistance. It is, however, difficult to fabricate. Its poor hot strength and lack of cohesiveness at processing temperatures prevent it from flowing smoothly through processing machinery. Additionally, calendered and extruded PVC products may exhibit surface imperfections such as air streaks and melt fractures. Indofil K-120ND processing aid is a highly dispersible powder that prevents many problems associated with PVC processing. The excellent disperibility of Indofil K-120ND processing aid results in fewer gels of fish eyes in clear vinyl formulations. Compounds containing one to five percent of the processing aid fuse rapidly, flow smoothly, have excellent hot strength, and are readily formed. Clarity, rheology, heat stability, and crease whitening resistance of PVC modified with Indofil K-120ND processing aid are maintained. Additionally, the process used to manufacture Indofil K-120ND processing aid enhances powder flow and achieves molecular weight consistency.

DESCRIPTION AND RECOMMENDATION
Ratio Analysis
Ratio analysis is a technique for trying to help interpret financial accounts. From the financial accounts various ratios can be calculated. These ratios will then help me to examine the NIMBUS TRADE position in more detail and compare it to its past data. Here's a brief explanation of some of the key ratios according to company,s financial position:
LIQUIDITY RATIOS
These are ratios that measure the liquidity of the firm. Firms have to ensure that they have the liquidity required to meet all their commitments. NIMBUS TRADE needs to be able to have sufficient assets to convert into cash, and can't afford to have all their assets tied up as capital.
1-Current ratio
This ratio compares the current assets and current liabilities. Clearly the firm needs to have more current assets than liabilities, and so at a minimum the figure should be more than 1. However, it should probably be quite a bit higher than this to ensure sufficient liquidity.
Calculated as:
CURRENT RATIO | = | Current assets Current liabilities |
Recommendation
The ratio gives an idea of the company's ability to pay back its short-term liabilities (debt and payables) with its short-term assets (cash, inventory, receivables). The higher the current ratio, the more capable the company is of paying its obligations. A ratio under 1 in 2007 suggests that the company was unable to pay off its obligations . While this shows the company is not in good financial health in past, it does not necessarily mean that it will go bankrupt - as there are many ways to access financing - but it is definitely not a good sign.
2-Quick(acid-test) ratio
This ratio takes a closer look at the firm's liquidity. One of the current assets is stock, and this is clearly not always easy to turn into cash. In fact the firm may have high stock levels because they can't sell it all. So the acid test ratio takes the current assets and subtracts the stock.
Calculated as:
ACID TEST RATIO | = | Current assets - stock Current liabilities |
Recommendation
The quick ratio is more conservative than the current ratio, a more well-known liquidity measure, because it excludes inventory from current assets. Inventory is excluded because some companies have difficulty turning their inventory into cash. The company is enhancing its ability to meet short term obligations from 2007 to 2008 so Nimbus Trade should focus to satisfy short term obligation as come due.
ACTIVITY RATIOS
3-Inventory turnover
The inventory turnover ratio measures the number of times a company sells its inventory during the year.A high inventory turnover ratio indicated that the product is selling well.
Calculated as:
Inventory Turnover | = | Cost of Goods Sold Inventory |
Recommendation
A higher ratio indicates that products stay shorter in storage deparment of Nimbus Trade.Business has significant assets tied up in inventory, tracking your turnover is critical to successful financial planning.
4-Average Collection Period
The approximate amount of time that it takes for a business to receive payments owed, in terms of receiveables, from Nimbus Trade,s customers and clients.
Calculated as:
Average Collection Period | = | Days x AR Credit Sales |
Recommendation
Due to the size of transactions, Nimbus Trade allows customers to purchase goods or services via credit, but one of the problems with extending credit is not knowing when the customer will make cash payments. Therefore, possessing a lower average collection period is seen as optimal, because this means that it does not take a company very long to turn its receivables into cash. Ultimately, business needs cash to pay off its own expenses (such as operating and administrative expenses).
5-Total Asset Turnover
The amount of sales generated for every dollar's worth of assets. It is calculated by dividing sales in dollars by assets in dollars.
Calculated as:
Calculated as:
Asset Turnover | = | Revenue Assets |
Asset turnover measures a firm's efficiency at using its assets in generating sales or revenue - the higher the number the better.
Recommendation
It indicates pricing strategy because company has high profit margin tend to have low asset turnover which shows from 2007 to 2008 so Nimbus Trade is needed to capitalize its resources to generate optimal revenue by applying its financial assets and employees capabilities with full capacity.
DEBT RATIOS
6-Debt ratio
A ratio that indicates what proportion of debt a company has relative to its assets. This measure gives an idea to the leverage of the company along with the potential risks the company faces in terms of its debt-load.
Calculated as:
Debt Ratio | = | Total Debts Total Assets |
Recommendation
A debt ratio of greater than 1 indicates that a company has more debt than assets, meanwhile, a debt ratio of less than 1 indicates that a company has more assets than debt. As data shown from 2007 to 2008 that company,s financial risk is stable but not much good so company should make strategies to handle long term and short term debts by meeting obligations.
7-Times interest earned ratio (TIE)
It is usually quoted as a ratio and indicates how many times a company can cover its interest charges on a pretax basis. Failing to meet these obligations could force a company into bankruptcy.
Also referred to as "interest coverage ratio" and "fixed-charged coverage".
Also referred to as "interest coverage ratio" and "fixed-charged coverage".
Calculated as:
Times-Interest-Earned | = | EBIT or EBITDA_ Interest Charges |
Recommendation
Ensuring interest payments to debt holders and preventing bankruptcy depends mainly on a company's ability to sustain earnings. It is recommended on the basis of transactional data from 2007 to 2008 that the company,s times interest earned ratio is deteriorating from 5.7 to 8.06 so the rationale is that the company should need to gain financial resources , loans , that would have low interest rates to decrease interest charges so company can use its financial resources to meet other obligations due to which other strong strategies can be maintained with finance.
PROFITABILITY RATIOS
These ratios help us to judge how good the Nimbus Trade,s profit performance is. There are two key ratios to show profitability.
8-Gross profit margin
A financial metric used to assess a firm's financial health by revealing the proportion of money left over from revenues after accounting for the cost of goods sold. Gross profit margin serves as the source for paying additional expenses and future savings.
Calculated as:
Calculated as:
Gross Profit Margin | = | Revenue - COGS Revenue |
Recommendation
Gross profit margin of Nimbus Trade company is deteriorating from 2007 to 2008 because company product,s cost of goods sold is very high and sales of its products is not high.
So Nimbus Trade is needed to make different strategies to expand its sales by improving its advertising efficiency.
9-Operating profit margin
A ratio used to measure a company's pricing strategy and operating efficiency.
Calculated as:
Operatin Margin | = | Operating Income Net Sales |
Recommendation
Operating profit margin of Nimbus Trade company is deteriorating from 2007 to 2008 due to its inefficiency in productivity due to which cost of goods sold , non operating expenses i.e ; selling and administrative expenses, are very high. So the company is needed to handle its cost of good sold to its optimal level so that the company gross profit margin should be high.
DILEMMA FACED BY THE ORGANIZATION
Customer Service
Clients often demand changes in projects, report bugs / defects and require additions to current projects. Handling all this can be a problem with a manual process leading to furious clients.
Client Communication
Communication with clients suffers due to inappropriate contact schedules and project status.
Inconsistent flow of work
Most service providers who have a manual system cannot analyze the pattern of inflow of work, nor can they differentiate between potentially profitable and inactive sources of project leads.
RECOMMENDATION FOR IMPROVEMENTs
Enables to keep track of Project Change Requirements, Bugs Detected and Additional Project Requirements and address them based on their status and priority. This results in happy customers and adds pro-activity to a company’s customer service efforts.
Complete Contact Management system, integrated with project management and billing helps chalk out project delivery schedules and maintain payment cycles, ensuring effective communication with clients.
Consolidates all project leads, quotations, RFQ’s and online bids in one place and generate reports as required enabling quick identification of active project sources enabling service providers to formulate an impeccable project procurement and delivery strategy.
CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS
One of the most important aims of the student life is to express him / her correctly and adequately. This was believed in my mind when I first decided to go to NIMBUS TRADE (pvt) LTD. to complete my internship program.
The organization is struggling both in size and profit for past few years and repute in the market. The employee turnover is very high which they have to cut down as they are losing a number of good trained employees due to its poor policy. The year 2009 is be expected to offer increased demand of high quality and increased productive sources of goods in different industries of Pakistan. Nimbus Trade company has wide experience in import of different Pharmaceuticals chemicals, medicines, raw materials as well as pharmaceutical machinery so company can capture wide range of market of above mentioned products with its focused strategy to high demanded pharmaceuticals products and machinery.
It can strongly positioned to meet these opportunities by importing low cost and high quality pharmaceutical machinery and medicines from china. The Nimbus Trade has very well repute in the market. Overall company is going well and doing a good business but there are few problems for that I have tried to give few recommendations that might help company to improve. So finally this internship program has helped me a lot in gaining practical knowledge of job that will help me in the practical life once I complete my B.Com(Hons).
RECOMMENDATIONS
I spent six weeks of my internship in Nimbus Trade. During these six weeks, I felt myself to be a part of the organization. Even, this was my first experience of working in any organization, but I learned a lot from this experience. Based on my experience & observation regarding the operations and policies of Nimbus Trade, I have tried to stipulate some recommendations for further improvements.
Nimbus Trade should establish a Department of Human Resource Management.
Nimbus Trade should continue to expand its business, by increasing its deposit portfolio through aggressive market penetration strategies.
Nimbus Trade needs to introduce its website. More information about its portfolio products should be available on the net.
Management should distribute work equally among different employees. Some of the employees are overburdened while some sections are overstaffed.
Related jobs should be assigned to the employees so that they can work more efficiently.
Cheques, which are drawn on Nimbus Trade and returned unpaid in clearing, are not reflected in the Statement of Account of the customers. These cheques must be reflected in the accounts so that credibility of the customers may be assessed.
The employees should be signed jobs for specific period and then they should shifted to other department so that they gain knowledge of other jobs.
I think attractive website should develop to capture extensive market so that sales of Nimbus Trade will increase in future.
